Come join us for the 10th annual Oliver Half.  From the warm swim in Tucelnuit Lake to the rolling scenic bike course past Oliver wineries you will be awed by the course.   Known for the great community and volunteer support this race is a great start to your season and a chance to test your early season fitness.

We will again have 25 qualifying spots for Ironman Canada in Whistler this year.  Spot allocation will be posted on the race website in the coming weeks.

Come race, visit some wineries and relax in the Wine Capital of Canada.

If you’re racing with us this year and haven’t booked accommodation yet please contact Rita at the Oliver Visitor Center at 250-498-6321 or Toll-free: 866-498-6321 for local referrals on where to stay.

Registration for the race is almost full.  If you’re registered for the event and are unable to race and would like to roll over your entry to the 2014 race the deadline to contact us by email that you’re not racing and would like to make use of this option is May 15th.  Requests made after the deadline will not be processed.

Ramblings of a Race Director - Joe's Blog

Well, a busy couple of weeks as the triathlon season is now under way.

On Monday, April 15th the race world changed forever with the terrorist attack at the Boston Marathon.  It’s difficult to put into words the tragic situation in Boston and how emotional it was for each of us as athletes to think about what happened that day.  It was amazing to see race officials, volunteers and police and fire personnel respond to the attack.  Reading the accounts of the volunteers at the finish and those that worked late into the night and the next day making sure that athletes received their race bags and personal items and be there emotionally for the athletes it reminded me of how selfless our volunteers and community supports are to a race. We will be observing a moment of silence prior to the start of the swim at the Eastlink Oliver Half in honor of those affected by the events in Boston.

We’re looking forward to celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Eastlink Oliver Half Iron in June.  Eastlink will be on hand to film the event again this year and I’m excited to celebrate those athletes racing and the members of the 10 year club – those athletes racing with us for the 10th year in a row.

A big congratulations going out to Jeff Symonds who is no longer an Iron Virgin after a racing at Ironman Los Cabos in March.  Jeff finished 4th and you can read about his day at his blog here.  (http://jeffsymonds.blogspot.ca/)

The Ironman lottery winners were announced recently with Cregg Nicol and Shannon Ouellette from Alberta receiving spots.  From BC, Mark Raymond, David Emri, Cam Dawes, Dean Luff, Elizabeth Model, and Penticton’s own Kirk Vandeweghe will all be going to Kona in October.

Eastlink Desert Half
Sunday July 7, 2013

Known as one of the toughest and most challenging races in Canada the Desert Half is a true test of a triathlete.  The day begins with the swim start off Legion Beach, and after the swim athletes head through the tunnel below Kingfisher Drive to transition.  The challenging bike course heads up the Richter Pass to Cawston and back.  Once off the bike, runners head out through the tunnel and on to the scenic run course beside the lake for two loops, finishing at Legion Beach.
